Crew

Silvio and Andrea have sailed many nautical miles together over the past 20 years. In addition to Lake Walen with our Waarship ‘Pina’, we have always been drawn to the sea. We explored Greece, Croatia, Sardinia, the Canary Islands, Greenland, Thailand and from the Azores to the Mediterranean Sea together on a sailing ship with different people in a wide variety of constellations. When we talked about children, it was clear to us that we wanted to go on a longer sailing trip as a family. We agreed that when our youngest child was two years old, we would embark on a journey. Voila, here we are!

Andrea got the offshore license more than ten years ago, Silvio has been around sailboats all his life. On top of our experience with different crews, we are now responsible for the ship and family ourselves for the first time. We prepared ourselves for this task with Bene Clauberg in a skipper training in Croatia and completed the short range certificate. In a Sea Survival training - at which we had the joy to climb into a life raft in the indoor pool in Kloten - we learned what to look out for, so that boarding a life raftis not necessary in the first place.

We now have to teach ourselves everything else.

Silvio

Already on a sailboat as a toddler with his parents on Lake Zurich he got the feeling for wind, ship, the perfect trim and the passion for sailing. With SY Passage he sailed along the entire Norwegian coast as a crew after our joint Greenland trip and has already got to know a few islands in the Caribbean.

Andrea

Her passion for the sea and sailing is not ‘family made’. As a teenager she had to coerce her other family members to go on whale watching trips. With the dream of becoming a marine biologist, Andrea went on her first sailing trip in Fréjus in southern France at the age of 18, where she took part in a research trip and wrote her thesis on whale and dolphin research in the Mediterranean. After two internships lasting several months at whale research stations in eastern Canada on the St. Lawrence River and Gulf, her love for the sea and its inhabitants is sealed.

Joséphine

Even as a baby she was on the sailing boat on Lake Walen and sailed with us in Croatia and Sardinia. Her curiosity for people and new things is great and so she is already learning sailing knots, is interested in sailing and would alreadz love to take over the helm.

Chloé

Always surprises and keeps us on our toes. With her adventurous and winning nature, she sometimes wraps one or the other gelati vendor around her finger…
